Human Heart

I created this illustration of a human heart by observing real specimens at Newcastle University’s Anatomy Laboratory. It was a fascinating experience that required a strong stomach and, I learned that every heart is structurally unique to its person.

Echolocation Project

This project is a comparative study of three Australian animals that use echolocation: a Ghost Bat, the Indo-Pacific Bottlenose Dolphin and an Australian Swiftlet. The illustrations visually represent the anatomy responsible for echolocation production and reception.

Entomological Studies

The Metallic Carpenter Bee:

I was walking through my mother’s front garden one day and spotted this fascinating. The bee almost looked like a giant fly with its iridescent blue and green colours. I had no idea native Australian bee’s looked like this. I drew two studies of the bee, first as stippled ink and paper illustration and second as a digital version, experimenting across different mediums.
